I am a certified Specialist in Periodontics and Implantology since 1989. Currently, I am an associate professor and Past Director of the Division of Periodontics of McGill University Dental School while maintaining a private practice specializing in bone regeneration, aesthetic periodontal surgery and implant dentistry.
Dedicated to teaching and excellence, I am also involved with continuing dental education worldwide. My passion for periodontology and teaching have awarded me the W.W. I am also a past President of the Quebec Periodontal Association. Curently, I am the co-director of the Montreal ITI study club and President of the Fédération des dentistes spécialistes du Québec. I am involved in several clinical research projects involving implant surgery, photodynamic therapy and the use of lasers in periodontology which keep me stimulated and up to date.
Through the fondations Kindness in Action and Change for Children, I have been able to give something back to the world! I have been organizing and participating in dental humanitarian missions for over 12 years and each trip has brought its share of emotions and inspiration. Our team has now grown and each year our group gets larger including dental students, hygienists and much needed non-dental volunteers. The quantity of patients we have treated for free over the years is staggering, several thousands now!
Born and raised in Montreal, I received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from McGill University. Honored to be given the opportunity to give back to my alma maters, I am a Faculty Lecturer and Clinical Instructor at McGill University in the Department of Dentistry, as well as in the Multidisciplinary Residency Programs at the Montreal General Hospital and Montreal Children's Hospital. Furthermore, I have a faculty position as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Periodontology Department at the University of Rochester, NY. I am an active member of a variety of professional organizations including the Canadian and American Academies of Periodontology, International Team for Implantology, Academy of Osseointegration and the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity.
On a personal note, I am an avid traveller and love hiking, skiing, and scuba diving. I co-hosted and co-directed a weekly radio talk show called "It's a Family Thing with the Spevack's" on Montreal's CJAD 800 AM with my father (clinical psychologist) and sister for four years prior to becoming a dentist. I also enjoy volunteering on humanitarian journeys to serve children and adults in need. I joined Dr. Veronique Benhamou in Ecuador as a Kindness in Action dental volunteer, providing free dental care to locals in remote areas.
